VISION & GOALS

 

It is the vision of the Task Force that within 15 years, sufficient workforce housing will be available and affordable throughout the Valley to at least the population of people (i.e. teachers, nurses, bank tellers, etc.) who are currently making between approximately $20,000 and $42,000 and will allow them to live and work in the same community. It is further envisioned that the economic value and attraction of workforce housing will be understood and supported by people in our region at every level.

 

GOALS: The goals of the Regional Task Force are as follows:

  • Increased quantity - Present a set of consensus recommendations with an implementation plan to increase, within 15 years, the production and supply of quality workforce housing throughout Maricopa County that is affordable to at least the families whose income is between $20K and $42K/year (2004 dollars for a family of 4).
  • Greater awareness and support - increase the awareness and importance of workforce housing resulting in the willingness of our community at every level to support and champion the recommendations and their implementation.
  • Linked to other key strategies -The recommendations adopted will be connected to other regional strategies to help improve the Region’s educational, transportation, economic development and “community building” goals.
